Meetings and Events
Starting in November 2009 meetings will normally be held at 3503 W. Kiltie Loop at 6:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month. There is a business meeting, a demonstration, a show and tell gallery, and a fund-raising raffle at each meeting. Please join us in this great hobby!
February
Tuesday, February 9, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Lin Kwis will demonstrate turning scoops.
March
Tuesday, March 16, 6:30PM//RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER//: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Lin Kwis will demonstrate turning tool handles, mounting tools in them, and grinding a tool profile.
April
Tuesday, April 13, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Shermane Frei from Sedona will turn a wine bottle and a dish.
May
Saturday, May 15, 1:00PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Tony Leal from Prescott will demonstrate ways to embellish your turnings and to repair/enhance cracks, etc. He asks that we bring some of our problem pieces for him to work on.
June
Saturday, June 5, Time TBA: In Prescott, reknowned turner, Jimmy Clewes www.jimmyclewes.com, will demonstrate at the Prescott Area Woodturners (PAW) meeting at the old club house at the Antelope Hills golf course. PAW welcomes the Peaks Woodturners members to attend this program. A fee, probably $20, will be assessed and will probably include lunch. Carpooling will be available. More details will be available later.
Tuesday June 8, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Steve Van will demonstrate turning a whistle.
July
Saturday, July 17, 1:00PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Former Peaks member Dan Liggett of Prescott will do a demonstration entitled "From Forest to Lathe" showing how to prep logs and burls for turning.
